Papers should be original manuscripts which are timely in scope and germane to transportation. Papers can be either empirical or theoretical research on transportation problems and issues. Issue papers are welcome which address current issues that affect or will affect individual transportation modes. All papers should potentially have practical application to transportation problems, issues, or policies.
All paper presenters must register for the conference.
You are not required to submit a paper to present at the Annual Forum. You only need to submit a paper if you would like to be considered for a TRF award or if you want it published in the online proceedings.
Authors can also submit papers for possible publication in the Journal of the Transportation Research Forum (JTRF). Instructions for submissions can be found on our Journal Editorial Policy page. Papers submitted for the Annual Forum are not automatically submitted for publication in the JTRF.

Port of Long Beach Tour Forum participants will have an opportunity to tour one of America's premier seaports and a trailblazer in goods movement and environmental stewardship. The Port forms the perfect backdrop for a conference focused on coordinating and integrating transportation. Trade valued annually at more than $100 million moves through the Port of Long Beach, making it the second-busiest seaport in the United States. Everything from clothing and shoes to toys, furniture and consumer electronics arrives at the Port before making its way to store shelves throughout the country. Specialized terminals also move petroleum, automobiles, cement, lumber, steel and other products. A major economic force, the Port supports more than 30,000 jobs in Long Beach and generates about $16 billion in annual trade-related wages statewide.
