On the cover: Barge transportation on the inland waterways plays a large role in the transport of crude oil, petroleum products, coal, grain, and ores. In "Demand Analysis for Coal on the United States Inland Waterway System: Fully Modified Cointegration Approach," Junwook Chi and Jungho Baek examine the dynamic relationship between demand for coal barge transportation and variables such as barge and rail rates, domestic coal consumption and production, and coal exports.
